Design professionals
Historically, the responsibility for design, and any disputes that subsequently arose, was that of the architect and/or the engineer. Today, however, design liability can attach to an architect, an engineer, builders and their subcontractors, and can sometimes revert to the employer where it makes a choice during design. Liability may even attach to a supplier in circumstances where they may not have even thought they were doing any design work at all.1
