Greek Coast Guard breached rules in migrant rescue attempt, inquiry finds

The Greek Ombudsman has ruled the country's Coast Guard (GCG) failed to follow maritime rules during events that led up to one of the Mediterranean's worst shipwrecks. The GCG raised the alarm only after an overcrowded migrant boat sank on 14 June 2023.
