Admiralty - Berthing fees - Whether fees incurred by 14 vessels - Whether claim in rem lay against one of the vessels for all of the fees - Senior Courts Act 1981, sections 20 and 21

The claimant, MDL, sought to recover berthing fees amounting to some £25,830 alleged to have been incurred by 14 sailing vessels taking part in the 2023 Ocean Globe Race which were berthed at MDL's marina at the commencement of the race. The defendant, the founder and chairman of the race, owned one of the vessels, SY Explorer. The vessels arrived on dates between 22 and 28 August 2023 and departed on 10 September 2023.
