Woman disabled by gas leak in settlement

A woman who was left severely disabled, and whose boyfriend was killed, by a gas leak has received an out-of-court settlement from her council. She had sued the council for £3.5mn after it had admitted breaching gas safety regulations. The woman suffered permanent brain damage from a build up of carbon monoxide from a faulty gas heating system in her council house. The council denied liability.
