Trip woman sues for weight gain

A woman is suing her council for £200,000 damages after she put on excessive weight following a fall in the street. She claims that she tripped on a badly-maintained pavement, resulting in a long period of immobility, during which her weight increased from 12-and-a-half stones to 19 stones. The council denies liability and claims the pavement was not defective. The woman claims that the accident affected her employment chances
