Motor tariff still in place but insurers can raise rates

India's Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) has granted local insurers the freedom to increase their motor premium rates above those set out by the tariff, even if there has been no adverse claim experience on their portfolios or on individual policies during the previous year.
