China: the death toll from the capsizing of cargo vessel Liaopuyun-777 in the Yellow Sea near north-eastern China’s coastal city of Dalian rose to 18, with one other person still missing. The vessel overturned while off-loading about 100 tonnes of bricks at Changhai County Haiyang Island Port in Liaoning province. All 46 people on board were thrown into the sea but 27 were rescued. An investigation into the accident was ongoing. Earlier press reports said that the vessel was not certified to be carrying passengers, but that passengers were on board because a local ferry service had been shut down.
