Growing sense that non-bank financial institutions need stronger regulation

New Zealand finance companies may be forced to obtain credit ratings and insurance companies could have to accept tighter controls under new regulations proposed by the government. There is widespread belief, especially within government, that non-bank financial institutions need a stronger regulatory framework.
