Property and casualty index outperforms S&P 500

S&P index of property and casualty insurers has risen by nearly 5% since the beginning of August

US and Bermudian insurance and reinsurance catastrophe exposed stocks generally outperformed their European and Asian counterparts during the two week period ending 7 September. Investors remain cautiously optimistic as the US hurricane season passes its midpoint without inflicting any significant property damage. Hurricane Ernesto, down-graded to a tropical depression, caused some minor flooding and water damage. Florence petered out over the Atlantic.
