BUPA loses risk equalisation challenge

Company describes court decision as bad day for Irish consumers

The Irish High Court’s rejection of BUPA Ireland’s challenge to risk equalisation payments in the Irish health insurance market has failed to dispel confusion over the issue. So far, there is no sign of BUPA Ireland carrying out its threat of withdrawal while the EU Commission has indicated that it is unhappy with the implications for competition.
