Sweden: one crew member was found dead and five injured in an accident on bulk carrier Saga Spray (29381 gt, built 1994) as a result of discharging wooden pellets into the carrier’s bulk while berthed in Helsingborg Port. The incident occurred when the two men were sweeping and cleaning parts of the hold. They were affected by the lack of air down in the hold and fainted. Wooden pellets rapidly consume oxygen and cargo crews are warned against entering into such areas.
