Marsh appoints UK chief executive
Europe
Broking group Marsh has appointed former employee Martin South as chief executive of its UK operations. The role is a new
one as Marsh’s UK operations were traditionally run from within Marsh, Europe Middle East and Africa (EMEA). The move is part
of Marsh’s drive to expand its service offerings to the middle market (companies with revenues of between $50mn and $750mn)
segment which, perhaps with the exception of Germany, is more developed in the UK than anywhere else in Europe. Parallel to
the middle market initiative, Marsh is also deepening its industry specializations. In regional terms, Asia has been identified
as a priority. Mr South was until recently chief executive of international business at
Zurich Financial Services where he focused on emerging markets, particularly China. Prior to ZFS, Mr South worked for 12 years in Marsh’s international
wholesale broking division.
