Croatia: authorities begun an investigation after a vessel ran into the Sjeverna Luka port in Split and caused damage worth an estimated $1.3mn. The 14-year-old refrigerated general cargo vessel Chiquita Bremen (10842 gt, built 1992), sailing under the flag of Bermuda, damaged 15 metres of stone blocks as well as a seven-ton crane in the incident. Chiquita Bremen was transporting bananas when the incident occurred and also sustained unspecified damage in the incident, was held in Sjeverna Luka until an agreement was reached on payment for the damage caused to the area.
