Concentration in the US reinsurance market

The 10 largest US reinsurers accounted for 84% of the total market last year, according to the annual survey ofthe Reinsurance Association of America (RAA). GE Insurance Solutions was the market leader, with a share of 12.5%, although the Berkshire Hathaway empire (incorporating both National Indemnity and General Re) accounted for a combined 19.4% share.
