Swiss Re and Munich Re: an account comparison

Europe’s two reinsurance titans, Munich Re and Swiss Re, have followed slightly different paths over the past few years, but comparison of the two accounts is still interesting. Our tables show the reinsurers’ premium income by line of business, and we also give the Swiss Re geographical breakdown. The last two tables show the premium and performance figures for the reinsurers by main business split: non-life, life & health, and financial services in the case of Swiss Re; and non-life reinsurance, life & health reinsurance, and direct insurance in the case of Munich Re.
