Brave New World - COB in the post-MiFID era

FSA has finally published all its promised Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID) implementation proposals. In this article, Emma Radmore of Denton Wilde Sapte looks at the new structure for the Conduct of Business Sourcebook.

MiFID implementation looms. By the end of January 2007 the FSA must make all its rules. At the end of October it published the last two of its major MiFID consultation papers. The larger of these, CP06/19***, set out its proposals for the new structure and content of the Conduct of Business Sourcebook (referred to in this article as NEWCOB).
