Passengers’ progress

The draft IMO protocol to the 1974 Athens Convention has received a lot of attention of late but there are still a few issues worth elaborating on, writes Christopher Hill.

THE draft IMO protocol to the 1974 Athens Convention on carrier’s liability for injury to or death of passengers has attracted comment in the shipping/P&I press recently. Two such examples are Richard Shaw’s article in the May edition of this magazine, and Aline de Bievre writing in the 24 April edition of Lloyd’s List. I make no apology for raising the subject again because I believe there is room for further comment.
