CHAPTER 19
Transportation and installation
A Introduction
19.1 A key feature of offshore construction contracts is that the facility is not usually fit for operations until it is transported to a specific location or has been installed at that location. It is common for the task of transporting and installing the facility to be performed by a specialist ‘T&I’ contractor, usually as a subcontractor of the EPCI Contractor. Or the Company may agree to take delivery of the facility ‘ex-works’ and perform transportation and installation operations itself or with the assistance of a specialist contractor. Either way, the specific risks inherent in transportation and installation must be specifically addressed, and apportioned, in the EPC/EPCI terms.
