Multimodal transport documents
12.1 Introduction
In international sales it is uncommon for goods to be carried to their final destination by a single mode of transport; it is far more common that goods are carried by two or even more modes of transport with the participation of several carriers. While in the past these different segments of transport were separate and independent, in modern transport they are often integrated. Containerization is the key factor that has contributed to this.
